Minnivallalækur or “Minni” as it is sometimes referred to by visiting anglers is located in the south part of Iceland. Minni is a small gin clear spring fed river holding good stock of wild trout.
This is a catch and release river with average size trout of 3 – 6 pounds. Every season several trout over 10 pounds are landed along with many trout of 6 – 9 pounds. For good results it is better to have some experience with trout fishing when going for the big ones in Minni. This is a technical river where good fly fishing skills and stealth is important.
Minni is fished with 4 rods and for 12 hours per day. Although dry fly fishing works really well, nymphs and streamers can also be effective.
The lodge is located on the river bank overlooking one of the best pools in the river.
